The task

Lendlease, working in partnership with Southwark Council to deliver a £2.3 billion regeneration programme on 28 acres of land in the centre of Elephant & Castle. Situated in London’s Zone 1. The project was partway through and the management team wanted to conduct an in depth ‘health-check’ to fully understand the dynamic health and productivity of the project team.


What we did

Lloydmasters conducted a series of in depth structured interviews across the entire project team to tease out the real issues, dynamics and opportunities of the leadership, culture and processes in operation within the complex project.

The results

The feedback was extremely beneficial to the project going forward and included a series of insights and recommendations across themes such as:

People and Resources
Structure Required for Growth
Team Identity & Culture
Learning Across Project(s)

This led to a series of feedback sessions with the Project Leadership and exposed many ‘blind-spots’ that the leadership team could address immediately to improve the culture and productivity of the project team and interfaces.

The final theme identified the benefits and opportunities of learning across the different phases of the project which led to an immersive facilitated workshop to identify the ‘Great Lessons Learnt’ during the Trafalgar Place development to incorporate into the further phases of the project and the wider organisation. This focussed on areas such as:

Design and Cost / Construction and Quality / Customer Journey

This was in addition to identifying the Key Learning Points and importantly the elements that educed the most pride in the project team. A further key benefit was to deeply review the concept of the ‘integrated team’ that was piloted on this first phase.
